Haiku

Rat Haiku

Bruxing quietly
My rat is in love with me
My husband, jealous

They climb the walls and
If i do not pet them, they
Squeak in sadness

Car Haiku

I was towed to home
Now I walk, hot and sweaty
Everywhere I go

Oh car, I miss you
Soon, my job will pay for parts
Until then, I walk

Marriage and Family Haiku

Sneaky teenagers
Think they get away with it
Parents know better

Hubby, my dearest
Gimme a kiss, my snookem
MWAH! and a hug too!

Stop fighting, you kids
But mom, she started it first
Now, I'm ending it!

:)

and one for the ladies:

That time of the month
My uterus is weeping
Someone kill me already

Spoonin and a bathin!

I forgot to post this picture yesterday, it's so cute. I caught Annika and Juliette spooning :)

Today, James and I borrowed the NICE neighbor's power washer and made our driveway and sidewalks look all spiffy and nice. Our next door neighbors on both sides had done theirs last week and it made ours look like shit, frankly. I'm sure that one of them will actually appreciate it a little bit, it gives their house some curb appeal. She is trying to sell it, thank gawd. I hope she does too, she's a psychotic mean ol thing. As a wonderful gent put it yesterday when my car broke down and he was towing me home with what looked like a childrens jump rope (and she happened by and asked what happened, then didn't bother to lift a finger to help but shot me a nasty "ha-ha" smile), "Nosy neighbors are allowed to be so, but only if they are helpful neighbors." He also said that she seemed like an awful person based on that smile she gave me. I agree. Here's to selling that house! *raises wine glass*

Anywho, because I was making my house have better curb appeal too, just to keep up with the other neighbors (and to keep the home owners association off my tail), I didn't have time to take pics of the rats outside, as I normally do. Instead, I decided that they are over a month old now and it's time they played in some water, so that they wouldn't be afraid of bathing later in life- or fishing for peas, etc. We took a video of that, which is amusing at the end because James nearly beats down the door trying to get me to answer the phone, as my friend B was on the line. We had to go pick up an amplifier for James to fix but B was at another friends house so I had to go so that James knew how to get there... so the bath was cut short. I snapped a few pics, dried and caged the babies and ran out the door.

Under the cut is a video and a few pics of very wet rats that decided to pile into the boat we put in the tub to escape the water. The blurring in the pics is movement, mostly ratties shaking like dogs to get the water off.

Bath fun )

Whirlwind

Man today has been something else! This morning I was taking the kids to school and my passenger front tire just felt weird. Like it was low or the shock gave out or something. The car was handling a little different than it was yesterday/normally and seemed a little low on that side when I was driving. I had James look at it when I got home and he discovered something that I missed when I had checked the tire: The thing was so bare in one spot that you can see the belts. He gave me his car to take to our appointments and took off of work for the morning.

Laura, Kay and I went to therapy and had our appointments. Kay came with me today because she had an eye appointment afterward, so I decided to talk about Kay. We discussed with Steve that Kay has a fear of growing up. We simply don't know why she does either. Steve gave me some ideas of what we could do and she opened up a little about feeling left out of the social activities of the older kids, and that she doesnt feel "babyish" like the younger ones. Oh, to be trapped in the middle, poor kid.

We took Kay to her appointment, she is nearsighted with some astigmatism. We ordered her glasses, I expected to get them there but they don't make them fast even though they make them in house. A lot of their glasses were expensive so they don't keep the blanks on stock. Should be about a week or so before she gets them. Bummer. We forgot the $5 copay and they wouldn't order the glasses without us paying so i had to head home and drop the girls off at school before getting the money from James.

James ended up not having the money, so I started calling around for a favor from someone, all I needed was $5 after all. I finally got ahold of B and he lent me $10 so I'd have some gas too. With 1 hour left of school for Kay and 2 for Laura, we left them at home and ran the errand to get the money, paid for the glasses and headed home. On the way I saw a turtle that had wandered toward the highway, fell over the curb onto the street and decided to turn back, but couldn't climb back up to safety. He kept going back and forth and I felt so bad for him. I asked James if I was able to save the little guy and he said no, he was afraid we'd be late to get London and James from school. I hope someone saved him. James switched my bad tire out with my spare while I got James and London.

Later in the evening, I got online and Ayshe and I got into a spat about something I had told him a few days prior. I'm simply too harsh in how I tell people things and he took some things the wrong way. I also crossed some boundaries about my feelings and how appropriate it was (or wasn't) to tell them to him. Both got angry and bared our teeth and we finally came to an agreement about how future interactions about delicate subjects would be handled. We made up, which is nice. I still feel tension but a lot less than there has been since things changed between us a few months ago. Time will tell if he will find the desire to trust me in the future and I will be a little careful to be sure I'm not acting inappropriately or wording things wrong. Maybe it will be the building blocks for undoing some bad habits.

Chamelion cars get wet and wild

It's allergy season, good GAWD! I came out today and my green car was yellow from all of the pollen on it, no joke. I decided to wash it. I got totally pwned by failing to wax it often though. It's had a growing area of failed clearcoat paint for the last year and when I washed it, some of my body paint flecked off showing the grey primer underneath. Just little tiny dots about the size of a pinhead but all the same... Damn. I waxed the living hell out of it and the area where that kid scraped his car against mine and took off clearcoat. I'm still irritated about that, his parents never even called me back after it happened.

I skated with the kids for a while today, as I do every day. I can get up and down the street a couple times now before having to take a break for my hip. It'll be a while before I can go around the neighborhood but I'm enjoying it anyway. I've realized how incredibly out of shape I am. Because of the muscle I've gained from skating, I've gained all of my lost weight back and then some. I've been sleeping a lot lately and it has caused me to lose some muscle so gaining it back really made a huge difference. I think that the new medication that the doctor has me trying for my going problem is interacting with my other meds and is making me tired. blah.

Partially out of my tiredness and partially because I really feel depressed and overwhelmed a lot lately, I've not been in the lair. I don't think it's really a big deal anyway, I was irritating a few people there... or it seemed. I think a break was in order. I've turned my attention to James and the kids more and have ocassionally popped in the other chatroom to say hello. The people there are still wary of me but have been so friendly. I'm so happy to have girls to talk to, L, W and R are really cool. I hope to eventually become a welcome addition to their little "girls rule, boys drool" group, hehe.
