I was working on a corset project today and was salvaging some boning from another corset. I got frustrated with some stiching and opened my scissors to "saw" the stitching apart. It was working great until I slipped.

I told James and held pressure on it for a while to stop the bleeding. It was really deep, nearly to the bone. He suggested a compression bandage but I flexed it and realized that knowing myself, I wouldn't be able to immobilize it well enough for a compression bandage to work. It just wouldn't heal properly.

I mean, it was really, really deep

So I grabbed my handy dandy chromic gut kit (surgical stitch needle and thread- I stole it from the doctors office about a year ago because they had a shitload on the counter and I tend to collect medical supplies for times just like this. Maybe I'm a medical klepto...)

I numbed it a little with some anbesol (tooth/mouth numbing agent for teething babies, canker sores, etc) and got to sewing

one of the stitches ripped out so I had to cross back and redo it but in all I did a good job. 8 stitches later, i have 90% usage of the finger and most of the 10% is immobility due to a bandaid on it. The best part is that I saved myself a $300+ trip to the emergency room.

James says I'm hardcore. XD
