Ice ice baby
Kay had a birthday party today and it was at the local ice skating rink. We had a lot of fun and managed to stay on our feet instead of our butts! We forgot to bring sweaters or jackets so we were a bit cold though. I've only ice skated once since my hip surgery so it was a fair reminder of why I skate on quads instead of blades. My ankles and hips aren't in the right condition to blade. Strangely, my good hip is more sore than the bad one. I suppose it has something to do with me favoring the left. I pushed off with my right and ended up working it harder. The party was fun and I got a good dose of reality that 10 year olds these days are more like 14 year olds than the 14 year olds were like when I was one. They giggled and talked, oohed and ahhed over jewelry and clothing that the birthday girl got, and reminded me of what a room filled of young women would do, not little girls.
Man, kids grow up too fast these days. When I was 10, the greatest loves of my life were my pogo stick and my pets. I wasn't thinking about purses dangly earrings or how cute my shoes were with my outfit.
Bounce on, ladies. My pogo stick still pwns.
